Online Journalism is less Credible as Compared to Mainstream Media.

People nowadays have many choices in every single thing in this world. They have the rights to choose what they like, what is more suitable for them, what can make their life easier and they can even select what news and information they want to know, as they can get all of that through online as well as by reading it from the mainstream media. Speaking about this matter, there is an issue stated that the online journalism is less credible as compared to mainstream media. Is it true? How far is the truth? Is it just an opinion or it is a fact? As for me, I have my own personal thoughts about this. There is no right or wrong. People can express what they feel and think about certain thing as everybody has their own perception on how they look at certain things.

 In the simplest term, online journalism is actually a news presentation through online media. It includes current events stories, entertainment news, and sports which is visible on the web. While mainstream media is where we can get information sources from newspapers, radios and televisions.

There are big differences between those two types of journalism. Everybody can write online especially through blogs. There is no special requirement or conditions that stated they should have qualification in order to write about certain issues before publish it on their blogs. Even a secondary school student, a farmer, a mechanic or a factory worker can write on blogs. What I am trying to say here is, the information they write online is from unreliable and sources that cannot be trusted. This is why we cannot simply read and believe whatever articles we read through online. It is different from mainstream media, which the stories and news are written by the trusted people based from the facts and real incidents that happened everyday. News that are been published in newspapers and radios as well as on televisions are facts and people should have no doubts to believe it.

Besides, the reason why online journalism is less credible is because there are no ethics in writing about any issues especially on blogs. Bloggers can write anything and everything they want no matter if the word they are using is harsh. Bloggers do not care if articles they write can turn into slanders and can create arguments that can make this country in chaos. They do not think about others feelings as they think that nobody can stop or control them. Mainstream media have gatekeepers who will control and filter whatever news before disseminating it to the audiences. This is crucial to maintain the peaceful and harmony in a country.

On top of that, as we all know, the dissemination of news and stories through online is much faster than the mainstream media. It is always good to know the information fast, but do we actually think that there must be an error, lack or false information, and this will make people who read it confuse and misunderstand of what actually happened in the real incident. There is no proof as there are no clarification and verifications on the issue. This will not happen in mainstream media as the news and stories is written by the professional journalist based on the real incidents that occur.

All the reasons stated above show that the online journalism is less credible than the mainstream media. Although any kind of information are accessible through online, but most of them are from unreliable sources. It is full of doubtful news and stories. People should know what the best for them and choose the right medium to get the real information. Avoid getting rumors to ensure that we only receive credible facts and information. This is very crucial to avoid misunderstanding that will lead and cause harm to the people, religion and nation.
